federal law mandates a dot-compliant testing program

If your company falls under Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, it is MANDATORY to institute and maintain a DOT-compliant drug and alcohol testing program. Premier's Drug and Alcohol Testing program is designed to meet your minimum requirements under federal DOT regulations per 49 CFR Part 382 and Part 40. Premier provides a turnkey system.

WHO MUST BE TESTED?

• Driver operating a vehicle having a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) as assigned by the manufacturer of 26,001 pounds or more

• Driver operating a Combination of motor vehicles having a Gross Combination Weight Rating of 26,001 pounds or more, inclusive of a towed vehicle having a weight rating of 10,000 pounds or more

• Driver operating a vehicle designed to transport 16 or more passengers, including the driver

• Driver operating a vehicle, regardless of size or rating, that carries hazardous materials in a quantity that requires placarding

OTHER COVERED EMPLOYEES

• Mechanics who test drive vehicles on public roads are subject to the CDL requirements and would also be subject to the testing requirements

• Employees driving unhitched tractors ("bobtailing")

• School bus drivers, whether they work for a private contractor or for a government entity

• Local (meaning cities, townships, or counties), state, or federal employees driving one of the described vehicles

It makes no difference if they drive a commercial motor vehicle only once a year, any CDL holder who drives one of the above described vehicles MUST participate in a drug alcohol testing program that complies with the Federal regulations.

• Placement of drivers in a random pool for drug and alcohol testing (individual company pools or Premier's nationwide pool)

• Preparation of Federal required MIS/DOT quarterly and annual reports (this report shows your company's drug and alcohol testing information)

• Reasonable suspicion supervisor training (video training that provides 60 minutes of controlled substance misuse and 60 minutes of alcohol misuse which is required per 49 CFR Part 382.603)

• SAMHSA-certified laboratory services, 24 hour turn-around-time on all normal negative results (featuring a collection site network of over 10,000 sites nationwide)
